Michigan State

This Is Spartan!

A small percentage of the pool did not have much faith in Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans.

Only 76 brackets had Michigan State advancing to the Sweet 16 over #2 seed Marquette.

Here’s an interesting stat about the East Region’s #1 and #2 seeds.

In the 64-team era, there have been 36 teams to enter the tournament as a 1 or 2 seed that weren’t ranked in the preseason AP poll. They have combined for zero Final Fours, averaging fewer than 2 wins per tournament. Good luck to Purdue and Marquette.

Purdue was knocked out in the first round and Marquette gone today.

Of the 76 people who had faith in Michigan State, 8-year veteran Andrea Kalthoff made the right pick and shot up to first place in the pool.

Also correctly selecting Michigan State were Kate Gangel, Cole HoppockMichael HolladayJack O’Halloran, and Kim Hoppock who all moved into the top ten.

That leaves the east region WIDE open with Michigan State, Kansas State, Tennessee, and the winner of the FDU/FAU game left.

In Survivor, two people had Marquette as their pick: Ted Kalthoff and Jason Gillock. That leaves twelve people left.
