NCAA Elite 8

Day 6 Recap – March 23: The Elite 8 Is Set

The Sweet 16 round did not disappoint. Friday night saw some heartbreakers for anybody who was rooting for the 1 seeds.

Following wins by Texas, Creighton, Miami, and San Diego St., 8-year veteran Andrea Kalthoff has taken the lead. This is Kalthoff’s second time ever at the top of the standings. Her last time in first was March 20, 2015. It’s a great time to be leading the charge as 2 of the last 3 champions have led after the Sweet 16 round. As it stands now, Kalthoff has a 36.7% chance of winning it all.

In second place is Chris Davis who fell to second place. With all the upsets taking place, Davis, who has Alabama winning it all, still has a 9.4% chance to be this year’s winner but he needs the upsets to keep coming.

Rounding out the top three is rookie Reid Turbak who is 4.5 points behind Kalthoff. Turbak has Duke as his championship pick and can finish 2nd at best should things fall his way.
