We’ve made it! Day one of the NCAA Tournament first round games.
After 16 games, there are no longer any perfect brackets, but four people came close going 15 for 16 on the day one games.
Rookie Caleb Taylor, 7-year veteran Emery Brotemarkle and 11-year veteran Heath Wright sit atop the standings at 18 points. For all three, it’s their first appearance ever at the top of the standings at the end of the day.
Just a half point behind is 7-year veteran Megan Royer who also went 15-for-16 but missed out on one of the upsets to put her in fourth place.
For Wright, it’s been a long time coming, Wright has not been in the top ten of the standings since March 15, 2018 when he was in tenth place after day one.

In our Survivor Pool, we started the day with 56 people. At the end of the night, 47 made it through to see day 2.
Wisconsin accounted for four of the 9 eliminations while St. Mary’s made up three and BYU and North Carolina costing two others. Ironically enough, the first day of 2025 also saw 9 eliminations.

For our Family Pool, we continued with the change from two years ago. We are doing two divisions of families; those with 4-6 members and another division with 7-9 family members. After much research of past years, it looked as though larger families typically won the sidepot so we split it up.
At the current moment, The Davis family led by Chris David leads the charge for the 4-6 division and in the 7-9 division, The Brotemarkles, who are no strangers to the Family Pool, lead the way.
In Couple Up, Penny Lamb and her son Teddy Madden are in a tie for first with Eddy Brotemarkle and Megan Royer.
