Day 4 Recap – March 23: The Sweet 16 Is Set

It’s always bittersweet on Sunday night. The best four-day stretch of sports is over. The excitement leading up to filling out the brackets, the tip-off of the Thursday games, trying to locate TruTV, it’s all behind us now.

With that, the first and second rounds are over. After 48 games, 2-year veteran Diego Carillo sits atop of the leaderboard by half a point. Carillo went 13 of 16 but also picked 8 of 11 upsets to go into the Sweet 16 games in first.

The leaderboard is very tight with the top ten just 3.5 points from each other.

In second was rookie Aaron Ryan, who is a half point behind Carillo followed by 12-year veteran Gregory Spiegel at a full point back.

The first two rounds saw a total of 11 upsets and the best anyone could do was 9 of 11, by 12-year veteran Justin Carruthers who is currently in fourth place. 10 of 13.  5-year veteran Jill Kontz and 10-year veteran Lois Kramer both lead the way in total upset picks.

The biggest jump in the standings went to rookie Sarah Morris who went from 428th place to 123rd after a 13 of 16 outing during the Saturday and Sunday games.

In First Family, The Miller family jumped to a commanding 5 point lead in the 7-9 division. While the Gangel family moved to first in the 4-6 division.

In couple up, the power couple of Dan and Tammy Miller took the lead over another long time pool couple in Randy and JoAnn Craven.
