It’s always bittersweet on Sunday night. The best four-day stretch of sports is over. The excitement leading up to filling out the brackets, the tip-off of the Thursday games, trying to locate TruTV, it’s all behind us now.
With that, the first and second rounds are over. After 48 games, 19-year veteran Danny Payne sits atop the leaderboard by three full points which is quite a bit for this early in the tournament. Payne was the only person this year to go 15 of 16 on the second-round games.
14-year veteran Steve Schirber sits in second place while Payne has another bracket that’s in a tie for third with 10-year veteran Chris Davis.
In fact, the top ten is almost a who’s who of longtime veterans who have been in the pool for 10+ years such as Robyn Cook, Dan Miller, Andrew Punch, Brandon Kuchinskas, Ted Kalthoff, Dan Kontz, and David Bayer.

The first two rounds saw a total of 12 upsets and the best anyone could do was 9 of 12 by seven brackets:
- Danny Payne
- Derek Schairer
- Emery Brotemarkle
- Brian Howell (twice)
- Nathan Crow
- Arthur VanConant
The biggest jump in the standings went to 18-year veteran Luke Luttrell and 5-year veteran Grady Wolford who both jumped 316 spots up to 179th place.

In First Family, the Miller family remains in control of the 7-9 division with a 2.5-point lead, while the Cook family holds a 1.5 pt lead in the 4-6 division.
In couple up, the power couple of Danny Payne and Ashley Prust, who also happen to be Texas fans have a big 9.5-point lead in Couple Up.

In our Survivor Pool, we are now down to 28 people. Literally half of the pool was eliminated over the weekend. Sunday’s Florida and Virginia losses knocked out six people with Texas Tech responsible for another knockout.
